Puyallup River flooding
The Puyallup River runs along the north side of the city, fed by the Carbon and White rivers coming off Mount Rainier. On December 10, 2025, during a week of atmospheric river storms, Puyallup police strongly advised everyone living near the Puyallup River to evacuate. Central Pierce Fire & Rescue issued Level 3 “Go Now” orders for streets including Williams Boulevard NW, Mellinger Avenue NW and Stone Street NW, and Level 2 “Be Set” notices south of the river near 150th Avenue East and Pioneer Way East. North Levee Road and 4th Street NE under the Meridian bridge were closed, and Orting was also told to evacuate parts of town.
When river water gets into a home, it’s treated as contaminated: wet drywall, insulation, carpet and pad usually need to be removed, and the house cleaned, disinfected and dried. Starting within 24–48 hours limits mold and lowers the cost of repairs.
On South Hill, away from the river, water damage usually comes from inside: supply lines, water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines, plus wet crawl spaces and roof leaks during long storms.

Puyallup restoration FAQs
Can you start cleanup as soon as we’re allowed back home?
Yes. Once it’s safe to enter, we pump out water, remove contaminated materials, and start drying the same day. We photograph and document everything for your insurance or disaster-assistance claim.
Is river flooding covered by homeowners insurance?
Usually not. Flooding from outside is normally covered only by a separate flood policy. Sudden internal leaks such as a burst pipe are often covered by homeowners insurance.
Do you serve South Hill?
